Dundee · A weekly series
Six weeks. One Tuesday morning at a time. The same somatic foundation as The Intelligent Body — paced for the rhythm of an ordinary week, not a single intensive weekend.
A weekend can show you something. A week lets you keep it. The Living Body takes the same foundation as our weekend intensives — Thomas Hanna's Clinical Somatic Education — and spreads it across six ordinary weeks, so each new pattern has time to settle into the body before the next one arrives.
There's no need to clear a weekend, book time off, or travel far. Just one Tuesday morning a week, six weeks running, in the heart of Dundee.
"The body is not a machine to be fixed. It is a living process to be educated."
— Thomas Hanna
Chronic Pain & Tension
Gentle release of long-held muscular tension patterns that contribute to ongoing pain and stiffness.
Anxiety & Stress
Slow, sensed movement calms the nervous system — many people notice a settling effect beyond the body itself.
Restricted Mobility
Regain range of movement lost to habit and holding, not just age — often more reversible than expected.
Poor Posture
Address the postural patterns underneath — the pull that no amount of "sitting up straight" can override.
Sleep & Restlessness
A body that's learned to release tension often settles more easily — a common, if secondary, benefit.
Recovery & Ageing Well
Rebuild ease and confidence in movement following injury, or simply to move better for longer.
This is movement education, not medical treatment. If you have a specific health condition or are recovering from injury, please check with your GP before attending — and let Ewan know in advance so the session can be adapted where needed.

Weekend Intensive
Two full days, led by Katrin Neue. Concentrated and immersive — for those who want the whole arc of the work in one sitting.
Dundee
Weekly Series
Six weeks, Tuesday mornings, led by Ewan Smith. Gradual and cumulative — for those who'd rather let the practice build steadily into daily life.
Week 1
Foundations. Introducing Sensory Motor Amnesia and pandiculation. The Red Light Reflex — where withdrawal and flexor tension live in the body.
Week 2
Breath & Extension. The "trying too hard" pattern through the back. Breath and posture as one connected habit, not two separate things.
Week 3
Asymmetry. One-sided holding from old injury, dominant-side use, and repetitive strain. The week many people notice the most.
Week 4
Integration. Combining all three reflex patterns into flowing, connected sequences — where the work starts to click.
Week 5
Function. Translating table and floor work into standing, walking, and the movements of daily life.
Week 6
Consolidation. A guided run-through of the full series, and a personal take-home routine to keep the practice going.
The Soma Room · Montrose
Ewan Smith founded The Soma Room in Montrose, working within Thomas Hanna's Clinical Somatic Education tradition. The Living Body is his own weekly series — the same foundation taught at a gentler, cumulative pace, close to home for the Dundee & Angus community.
